Role overview:

We are currently recruiting across a wide variety of roles for new and existing programmes with our clients in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sectors.  
Through Agile Project Management, technical design and build, automated Testing with an emphasis on 'secure by design' delivery, we will utilise the latest technologies to deliver an interconnected on-premises technology solution.  

These roles require the successful applicants to undergo UK security vetting clearance (or a willingness to apply).  

The Opportunity: 

We are expanding the Application Packaging team on a large IT site and have a new opportunity for an experienced and multi-skilled Desktop Engineer to work within a team providing Application Packaging, Image Management and Deployment.  We are looking for people who are skilled in the requirements capture, analysis, development, management and maintenance of a predominantly Wintel client desktop service.   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Repackaging of application installation routines from COTS and bespoke source installation media.  
• Alignment with base OS images and build sequences.  
• Configuration of applications / OS images within the software delivery infrastructure.  
• Definition and configuration of Application / OS lockdown policies and relaxations.  
• Unit test application installations and OS deployments within a locked down environment.  
• Baseline and release documentation for engineered components within the team’s area of responsibility.  
• Management of client / application deployment infrastructure.  
• Provide a 3rd / 4th line incident and problem escalation for applications and operating systems deployed to the live environment.  
• Provide engineering expertise and consultancy for current and future proposed components.  

Essential Skills: 

• Experience of Windows registry and file system.  
• A thorough administrator level understanding of Windows 10.  
• Knowledge and practical experience of application packaging methodologies and toolsets (MSI, App-V, etc).  
• Active directory administration (specifically in the area of group policy management).  
• Windows scripting languages, ideally PowerShell.  
• Systems management, using Microsoft MECM (SCCM) as the deployment infrastructure.  
• Strong communication, troubleshooting and analytical skills.  
• Strong customer service skills, focused upon meeting customer needs.  
• Complex service delivery experience, preferably in a multi-Vendor environment.  
• Knowledge and experience with ITSM/ITIL V3 Reference model.  
• The role requires HMG security clearance. Current HMG security clearance preferable  

Desirable Skills: 

• Support / maintenance of supporting Desktop platform infrastructure.  
• Understanding and knowledge of cloud client management technologies, e.g., Intune.  
• Experience in application and OS management of non-Wintel desktop platforms, e.g., iOS, MacOS.  
• Image creation and deployment, e.g., MDT, creation of WIM’s, task sequences, etc.
