Do you want to combine your passion for Leadership and organisational development to support a National Police Force in its strategy to progress and develop its people through its Learning and Development function?

British Transport Police (BTP) are looking to recruit a Senior Leadership Development Partner to join our organisation during an exciting period of change and transformation on a permanent contract paying up to £50,617.58 per annum plus £2,700.10 London Allowance (if applicable).

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

BTP is moving towards an empowered, learning culture with Coaching and transformational leadership at its core. Our Leadership Academy supports Police Officers and Staff throughout their career, with the aim of ensuring that all programmes are aligned to the delivery of organisational strategic objectives as well as delivering BTP's leadership vision and transformational leadership behaviours.

The successful post holder will work closely with the Head of the Leadership Academy to support the implementation of a new Leadership vision, the design and delivery of our Leadership Development Programmes, and in the transition to a more agile, flexible learning environment. This new 'Partner' role supports the People and Culture strategy and will enable a team transition team from learning providers and deliverers to learning enablers and thought leaders.

We have an agile working model and the post holder can work primarily from home with occasional dates for face to face working days. Once per month the Leadership Academy team come together (usually at our Spring House office in London) and it would be expected you are able to travel and attend these days. And whilst much of our work is currently delivered virtually, at times (when needed) you may be expected to deliver face to face sessions. Therefore a degree of flexibility in your working arrangements is expected.

As Senior Leadership Development Partner you will be required to:

  • Design, develop and deliver blended Leadership and Management learning interventions to enable to transition towards a blended, agile learning delivery model.
  • Identify priority learning needs for the organisation and develop solutions to meet the needs.
  • Support leaders in a culture of learning and in the development of management teams.
  • Evaluate the success of new and existing learning solutions.
  • Provide tailored, individual coaching to Senior Police Officers and Staff to assist them in developing their skills and competence.
  • Horizon scan for future initiatives, trends and developments.
  • Build strong relationships with SMT's and provide expert advice on individual and team development.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners to ensure the compatibility of BTP's leadership framework with external best practice.

We are looking for someone with a passion for Learning and Development with a successful track record of design and implementation of new learning solutions and training programmes. They should have considerable experience in a large complex organisation similar to BTP at senior level and have managed new processes and large projects particularly during transformation or change.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is March 2022.
