DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer

Working from home with travel to local office in Scotland once per month

£55-65K plus extensive benefits package

Due to the secure nature of this work all applicants will be required to gain UK Security Clearance to at least SC level. You must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years and cannot have been outside the UK for more than 28 days on any one occasion within this time.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident DevOps Engineer and will ideally have a blend of:

• Linux sysadmin experience
• Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, etc)
• Networking experience
• Experience in Perl/groovy scripting
• Automated Configuration Management tooling (ansible, etc)
• JON (JBoss operations network) work experience
• Pipeline experience (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc
• GitOps experience and an understanding of the importance of everything as code
• Experience in software development lifecycle (Agile/Lean methodologies)
• JIRA, collaboration experience
• Experience in jfrog artifactory & Sonar
• Problem solving experience, in particular around connectivity issues
• Comfortable in a working from home environment

Position summary:

Our client has multiple opportunities for DevOps Engineers in their Scottish Business Unit. These roles are to help further grow our digital teams of agile service design specialists to build and deliver user centred services and solutions in partnership with high profile customers. You will be working from home with once month meetings in one of our Scottish offices to catch up and collaborate with your team.

Job role and responsibilities:

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Testing and examining code written by others and analysing results
• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
• Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
