This is your opportunity to join an exciting and dynamic team here at Babcock International working as part of our contract with the Metropolitan Police service in Rainham. As the Motor Vehicle Technician your role will be to service and repair vehicles in a safe & efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as is required.

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician who takes pride in the completion and presentation of completed repairs. You will be a flexible, team player and proactive individual who has the ability to network and build effective relationships and can work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

What will you be doing?
As a Vehicle Technician you will play a key role prioritising vehicles and maintenance ensuring completion in accordance with procedures in operation and to the standard and Quality required and ensure warranty claims are identified for recovery from manufacturers and rechargeable damage is identified and authorised.

Your duties will include:
• Servicing, adjusting and repairing vehicles, components and accessories including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided.
• Diagnosing faults and testing vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. This will include road testing where deemed necessary. To drive in a manner within the parameters of the law and ensuring that all police signs are covered appropriately
• Observing, recognising and reporting on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure. Identification of recharge costs advising the Workshop Controller and correct completion of paperwork
• Ordering from the parts department, all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work
• Interpreting technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data. Implement by applying correct techniques
• Ensuring at all times that equipment and tools are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damaged/faulty equipment the line manager.

The experience you'll bring
• Full driving licence
• Proven experience in a Motor Vehicle technician role, with relevant experience gained as a fully qualified technician
• Good understanding and working knowledge of diagnostic equipment
• Good level of industry knowledge / awareness
• Ideally completion of Manufacturer training through Ford, Vauxhall or BMW
• Basic level of computer skills required
• City & Guilds 1 & 2 in Motor Vehicle Studies or equivalent NVQ levels 2 & 3 or equivalent
• Ideally Hold Master Technician qualifications or working towards this level
• Working as part of the Met Police contract you will need to be subject to relevant security checks
