Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Client and VDI Analyst to provide guidance, support and maintenance of systems to business stakeholders, other technology leads as well as users. Babcock is the UK's leading engineering support services organisation employing over 28,000 people across the world.

As a Client and VDI Analyst you'll be responsible for m anagement and maintenance of the group wide Windows Client estate, encompassing MCEM Task Sequencing, OSD Gold Image management, on take of new Hardware devices and drivers. You'll also maintain and monitor the group wide VDI infrastructure, CVAD, PVS and NetScaler platforms as well as management of other core Client applications (Privilege Management, Device control).

In support of these activities both capacity and performance management will also be a requirement. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong track record working within a large estate with associated technologies in a BAU support and project capacity.

We are open to all applicants from both 2nd and 3rd line roles and will provide full training if needed.

What will you be doing?
  • Monitor and maintain Citrix XenApp 5.0, 6.5 and CVAD, Provisioning Services (PVS) and NetScaler infrastructures to agreed operational standards.
  • Create and maintain Windows 10 Gold images across multiple sites and languages.
  • Application deployment, testing and support across multiple Citrix infrastructures and security zones.
  • Management and Support of Device Management software (Ivanti), Ensuring it optimised, up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Management and Support of Privilege Management software (Beyond Trust), Ensuring it optimised, up to date and fit for purpose.

The experience you'll bring

We'd like you to have experience within a 2nd or 3rd line Client or VDI position.

  • Must have a solid foundation in Microsoft technologies covering testing, documentation and installation through all troubleshooting aspects
  • Understanding of future client technologies including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and Windows as a Service (WaaS)
  • Experience in design, implementation, maintenance and disaster recovery for large environments
  • Understanding of IT management processes.

What else do I need to know?

  • We are flexible on location as long as you are able to get to one of our offices on an ad-hoc basis. Typical Babcock locations include but not limited to; Portsmouth, Bristol, Plymouth, Rosyth.
  • The role will require you to participate in an on-call rota currently 1 in 3 weeks. You will get an on call allowance as well as overtime paid if you work is needed to be completed.
  • Working hours are 37.5 per week between 07:30 - 17:30 giving you flexibility for an earlier start and finish.
