We're looking for a driven, results oriented and solution focussed Systems Engineer to join us in Babcock Mission Systems.
This position is a Technical role within Babcock Mission Systems based at one of our sites either Bristol, Harrogate, Inskip or Plymouth.

• The production of technical information in support of all Mission System projects and new business opportunities across the Systems Engineering (SE) lifecycle.
• Ensuring quality of allocated engineering deliverables.
• Undertaking SE activities;
o System concepts
o System capability issues
o Enterprise and technology environment
o Determining and managing stakeholder requirements
o Architectural design
o Concept generation
o Design for attributes, such as safety, security, ARM, etc.
o Functional analysis
o Interface management
o Maintain design integrity
o Modelling and simulation
o Preferred solution selection
o System robustness
o Systems integration, verification, and validation
o Transition to operation
• Liaising with customer and supplier representatives in the elicitation and acceptance of user and system requirements.
• Managing requirements and their acceptance throughout the lifecycle.
• Managing and creating interface specifications and certificates.
• Producing boundary diagrams and identifying responsibility ownership.
• Specifying technical requirements as part of procurement activities.
• Maintaining technical documentation for systems and / or projects as applicable.
• Undertaking technical management of sub-contractors, both external and internal within levels of delegated authority.

Who we're looking for
You will be a positive individual with good listening skills who builds strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

Experience
• Creating, maintaining and following technical procedures and documentation
• Working closely with External Vendors and other internal technical teams
• Keeps knowledge up-to-date, is a technical resource for others, follows technology practices and standards
Domain knowledge in one of the following areas is desirable:
• Military external communications;
• Military communications networks (WAN and LAN);
• Electronic warfare systems;
• Command and control systems;
• Software and hardware architecture design.

• Customer service focussed and possessing a strong work ethic
• Capability to organise and prioritise tasks

• Able to work with minimum supervision yet deliver in line with the (Project) deadlines

Education and Qualifications
Ideally you will be a degree qualified, chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body.
Alternatively, you may hold an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the systems domain.
• INCOSE recognised Systems Engineering qualifications, covering a broad range of the systems life cycle is desirable.
