Senior & Lead Developer- Scala, Java, Full Time Role.

Lead and Senior Software Developer, Scala, Java, £56,000-£66,000 Per Annum + Additional benefits.

A client of mine is hiring for a Lead & Senior Developer. Scala or Java is the key technology focus, Scala is preferred but you could come from a strong Java background if you have a willingness to eventually learn Scala.

The aim is to help the client create an outstanding service for their users- this including the public, students and the government. In this varied and challenging role, you will create, develop, and enhance these innovative services, ensuring that the client handle the latest digital records in a wide range of formats including documents and machine learning models.

Roles and Responsibilities.

Work within a multidisciplinary product team including Product and Delivery Managers, Technical Architects and Data specialists, to lead the design, development, and maintenance of their software products.

Working with the Technical Architect and the product team to define and communicate the product’s technical approach, documenting and discussing the issues considered in reaching decisions. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and proposing relevant technologies and approaches ensure the client is forward thinking.

Liaise with key stakeholders, building relationships, acting as a strong advocate for the client’s digital services and ensuring that the needs of the users and the business are met effectively.

Technical Specifications.

A strong track record of setting technical standards and direction and delivering high quality, user-focused software applications at pace.

Excellent experience of developing software in a modern programming language using relevant data standards: including the following languages: Scala, Java, Python / Java with Maven, Spring, Hibernate, RESTful web services in a Linux environment.

Data technologies and standards such as JSON, SQL, XSLT, XML Schema with a strong understanding of data structures including document, graph, and relational models. Modern development approaches including Agile and Test-Driven development; service design and development in a Cloud environment.

Security clearance (SC) is required for this role, but you could start this role whilst your SC application is being processed - so this is not initially essential.
