Due to the secure nature of this work all applicants will be required to gain UK Security Clearance to at least SC level. You must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years and cannot have been outside the UK for more than 28 days on any one occasion within this time.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident Engineer with at least 6 months of experience in DevOps. Additional desirable requirements for this role include the following and full training will be provided for any that are not known:

  • Strong Unix experience
  • Ansible \ Chef \ Puppet
  • Jenkins
  • Maven
  • SonarQube
  • Nexus
  • AWS \ Azure experience and any associated accreditation
  • Comfortable in a working from home environment

Position summary:

Our client is looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to work on a flagship UK Smart Metering programme. This represents an exciting opportunity for new members of the team to work on a large, complex programme offering excellent benefits and with mature processes in place.

Job role and responsibilities:

As a Junior DevOps Engineer you will enjoy a varied and challenging role on the high-profile Smart Metering programme. There will also be more opportunities to work in AWS, supporting multiple clients and applications going forward. Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing releases to the client facing environments during an outage window
  • Ability to write deployment scripts in a number of languages, mainly Ansible, PERL and BASH useful
  • Working with the other teams to ensure that environments are available for use, support and maintenance
  • Process improvements, identify and implement changes in the process to reduce outage times

This role is Working from home and there will be some out-of-hours working required but this will be offset with time given back.
