Job Details

Working within Hertfordshire Constabulary's Crime Reduction and Community Safety Department, this is an exciting and challenging opportunity to undertake a varied role which includes supporting the Watch Liaison Team, who promote, develop and maintain Neighbourhood Watch and Other Watches within Hertfordshire, and also to provide support for Force Chaplaincy, a volunteer team who provide wellbeing support for colleagues across the organisation.

More than 160,000 households in Hertfordshire are members of Neighbourhood Watch and our small Watch Liaison Team work with colleagues, policing teams and Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators to develop and deliver an effective Neighbourhood Watch which aims to help people to keep themselves and their neighbours safe. You will undertake a range of different tasks in support of Neigbourhood Watch, which will include coordinating and supervising a small team of police volunteers who will work with you to maintain our membership database and deal with email enquiries (training will be provided).

You will also provide administrative support for Force Chaplaincy, undertaking a variety of tasks such as: arranging and supporting meetings and events, ordering materials, and maintaining vetting and training records.

The role will also include responsibility for stationery and post across the wider department.

We are seeking someone with administrative experience, together with strong interpersonal skills, including a clear and patient telephone manner. The post holder will also be expected to write emails to members of the public, which will necessitate strong writing skills.

While much of the role is office based, at Hertfordshire Police Headquarters, there will be an opportunity for some home working. An ability to work proactively and under own initiative is essential.
