Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate, and are pursuing opportunities for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting frigate exports, the engineering team is actively working on other complex shipbuilding programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers, alongside our established in service support contracts for UK and overseas customers.

We are looking to significantly expand our engineering and ship design teams in order to exploit all of these opportunities and so if you are interested in taking your career in an exciting new direction then consider Babcock for your next move.

You will join a national team of over 700 Engineers and Designers within the Marine Sector of Babcock. We are a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine system engineering, electrical engineering, design modelling and project support services to the marine and defence markets. We have base offices in Bristol, Rosyth or Plymouth, and offer flexible working with office attendance and travel to meet project requirements.
The role is within our complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early stage design as well as supporting the bidding process.

The role is for a Requirements & Acceptance Manager, who will provide requirements and acceptance domain expertise into complex programmes across the range of projects Babcock is involved in. As a Requirements & Acceptance Manager, you will use your experience and technical ability to lead the development of the plans, processes, and technical outputs on any of our projects, adding value and exceeding customer expectations.
You will be accountable for the overall delivery of all project requirements and acceptance activity; co-ordinating and providing the focus for all engineering requirements and acceptance activities as well as Produce and own Work Package Descriptions, Plans, Schedules and Estimates for requirements and acceptance.

You will develop and establish the requirements management and acceptance strategy for the development and build of the system to address risk early, achieve the best cost, and schedule result. In addition to this, you will be responsible for developing and establishing the requirements and acceptance criteria using elicitation, modelling and analysis techniques. You will manage and maintain these requirements and acceptance criteria through robustly developed and implemented project processes and procedures.

What do I need for the role?

As a Requirements and Acceptance Manager you will be a highly technical and well-qualified Systems Engineer having developed excellent analytical skills, with a pragmatic approach to solving highly complex problems using structured model-based methodology.

You will have an honors degree in an engineering, science or mathematics based subject, considerable post-graduate experience to enable you to provide expert advice and hold Chartered Engineer status, INCOSE or equivalent.

What else do I need to know?

You will work 36/37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Our teams are currently working from home with a future agile working approach for 2/3 days onsite per week in Bristol, Rosyth or Plymouth. Lastly, you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance for this position.
