Job Details

The Constabulary's busy and resourceful Thinking and Analysis Department provides timely data, information, analysis, advice and insight to colleagues, partners, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, the HMICFRS, the Home Office, the Public and other stakeholders about a wide spectrum of policing activities that collectively helps hold the organisation to account and enables it to flourish.

This includes monitoring the Constabulary's performance, managing corporate risks and actions, carrying out and assisting with inspections and audits, monitoring data quality and data compliance and engaging with staff and the public.

An opportunity now exists to apply for a role in our Inspection and Risk Team that operates within the fast-paced, exciting Thinking and Analysis Department to help carry out research and analysis, support internal and external audits and inspections and manage corporate risks.

Your role within the Inspection and Risk Team will be demanding but rewarding. The successful candidate's duties will include:
  • Compiling and carrying out risk-based process audits/internal inspections to assess compliance against internal documentation and national requirements
  • Supporting external inspections with pre-inspection work, 'lessons learnt' reports, creating and collating briefing packs and coordinating the inspections
  • Providing support to other areas of the business including the creation of presentations and documents for Corporate Performance Meetings and bespoke projects
  • Undertaking high quality performance analysis using a range of robust statistical and analytical tools and techniques, analysing, comparing and contrasting datasets to determine trends in current and future performance, their significance and possible/probable causes
  • Working closely with other teams across and outside the force to better understand the Constabulary's performance and its context
  • Maintaining an understanding of changes in the internal and external operating environment and their possible implications with regard to compliance and performance

Accordingly, applicants will find experience of research and analysis an advantage.

We are looking for candidates who possess excellent research and analysis skills.
