Role summary

We are looking for a Finance Professional to join our UK National Security Finance Team, the largest Business Unit in Applied Intelligence, with annual revenues of ~£170m. This individual will be responsible for the external reporting of our MSD(A) Framework, as well as managing the processes for maintaining and extracting the underlying data on a timely and accurate basis. The Management Accountant - Client Reporting role will include the preparation of Financial Reports as required under the Framework. This may include (but is not limited to) Monthly Customer Reports, Annual Customer Reports, Gain Share Calculations, Volume Rebate Tracking, Subcontractor Analysis, SFIA Rate analysis and supporting Customer Audits. Working alongside Finance Business Partners in the National Security Accounts, you'll regularly be involved in discussions with a variety of stakeholders. This role reports into the Head of Finance for UK National Security, and is part of a high performing team of five.

This role embraces hybrid working - it is predominantly home based, with travel to the Gloucester office as required (likely to be 2-3 times per month).

What you'll be doing

The Management Accountant - Client Reporting role involves:

  • Working closely with the Business Partners, Project Managers, PMO and Delivery, to provide robust financial & statistical information on the Framework.
  • Interlocking with the Accounts that deliver call off contracts under the Framework, so that project information is presented consistently.
  • The preparation and delivery of Framework MI to senior business stakeholders, allowing high quality financial decisions to be taken.
  • Providing objective financial advice and opinions that positively impact the business.
  • Identifying and driving through process efficiencies, to enhance the timeliness and accuracy of reporting.
  • Ensuring that the Framework operates an appropriate and effective set of financial controls, and that the overall integrity of the reports are in line with good accounting practice.
  • The identification of any system changes that support improved reporting, or reduce financial risk.
  • Ad hoc tasks such as the analysis of labour margins, 3rd party suppliers, orderbook, utilisation, etc.
  • Support to bids under the Framework (where appropriate).
  • Forecasting and reporting of Framework overheads.
  • Attendance at Customer meetings.


What we're looking for

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines / workloads, and work to tight timescales.
  • Record of implementing and maintaining robust financial controls.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross function team and at various seniority levels in the organisation.
