Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer

Working from home with occasional expensed travel to your local office in Scotland

£60-69K plus extensive benefits package

Due to the secure nature of this work all applicants will be required to gain UK Security Clearance to at least SC level. You must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years and cannot have been outside the UK for more than 28 days on any one occasion within this time.

To be successful in this role:

You will be an experienced and senior Data Engineer who is comfortable with Big Data and Cloud Computing environments. You will also have ability with a combination of some of the following technologies:

• Extensive cloud expertise using one or two of the Azure / AWS technology stacks:
  • Azure: ADLS, Databricks, Stream Analytics, SQL DW, COSMOS DB, Analysis Services, Azure Functions, Serverless Architecture
  • AWS: S3, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift, Dynamo DB, RDS, AWS Lambda / Serverless
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, SQL, Scala, Spark-SQL etc
• Experience in Data Engineering projects and relevant experience on Azure / AWS technology services Experience working in Agile development team Desired traits
• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc and relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or another quantitative field or equivalent experience
• Must be comfortable working from home

Job role and responsibilities:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be joining an innovative UK team tasked with creating and managing Big Data infrastructure and tools, typically designing and building big data pipelines and platforms. You will be working from home with occasional (expensed) visits to your local office in Scotland.
