Farnborough, Hampshire with WFH / Remote options

Technical Writer required on a 12-week contract by an innovative technology company within the Defence & Security sector based in Farnborough, Hampshire.

Contract details
As a Contractor Technical Writer, the contract will be:

• £500 - £600 per day based on experience / relevance (including active Security Clearance to SC Level) OUTSIDE of IR35
• 12-week contract with possible extensions
• Hybrid working, but will require the ability to be in the Farnborough office up to 2 days per week if required
• Exciting project work

Responsibilities
As a Technical Writer some of your responsibilities will include:

• Write technical documentation, including reference blueprints, tutorials, how-to guides, user guides, reports, presentations, architecture patterns and practices.
• Produce digital and hardcopy technical content including instruction manuals, parts and technical documentation and maintenance instructions for our customers, end-users and stakeholders
• Identify documentation gaps, develop a streamlined publishing process, keeping a focus on audience needs.
• Work collaboratively with engineers and architects to enhance and organise content, and get it published.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Establish reusable documentation patterns and standards
• Maintain and enhance existing content as products evolve

Essential experience required

• Technical Writer background (or Technical Author) and be able to demonstrate previous experience as a Technical Writer on a minimum of 3 large programmes/projects ideally within the Defence sector
• Strong academic background (BSc/MSc/PhD)
• Experience of technologies like HTML or CSS, 
• Familiarity with Git-based version control systems
• Previous exposure and knowledge of Jira and Confluence, MS Visio or alternative
• Working knowledge of markdown syntax and publishing pipelines
• Experience with data technologies and/or cloud technologies, analytics, Crypto, application development

Desirable

• SC Clearance
• Experience or understanding of DevOps
