Who we are

If you haven’t heard of FCDO Services, it’s time you did. We work behind the scenes, but this makes what we do even more interesting. Our job is to help the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (and other government-level customers) protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. You’ll find us on every continent and in almost every country around the world. Every colleague makes a vital difference. So, the work you do here will mean more.

What you’ll do

You’ll travel to a vast range of places around the globe to install equipment that helps protect our country’s interests; everything from CCTV, to structured cabling, to satellite and radio communications. The government buildings you’ll work in will be wide-ranging too: one time it might be a centuries-old embassy, and the next it’s a state-of-the-art skyscraper. Whatever you’re doing, you’ll face interesting and varied challenges – the kind that you just won’t find anywhere else.

Every day will bring something new, or take you somewhere new. And when you’re not overseas, you’ll be freshening up your skills – preparing for future trips or supporting other specialist teams. Alongside welcoming and supportive colleagues, you’ll work on a variety of projects, including both single-system installations as well as more complex, multi-system installations. Bottom line? You’ll constantly use different tools and skills, growing your expertise along the way.

Where you’ll work

Travelling for up to 22 weeks per year, this role will take you almost anywhere in the world to new and fascinating places with the broadest ranges of environments, climates and infrastructure. Think Mongolia. Norway. Sri Lanka. You might also work in quite remote locations, sometimes where you’d never expect to go.

But don’t worry, we’ll never send you somewhere that you’re not comfortable with, whether it’s to do with the specific location or the timing; we’ll put you first, as there’s always impact to be made in our UK base. Wherever you are, you won’t be alone: there’ll be a great sense of camaraderie as you and your team explore new sights together or collaborate to achieve new goals.

How you’ll grow

Travelling isn’t the only way you can move. We take your progression seriously, that’s why you’ll find excellent opportunities for personal development and all the advice you need to explore your future career. Through our outstanding training and support, you can quickly move your way up, or you can explore other areas within our organisation. Here, the opportunities are there for the taking, so you really can move in more ways than one.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking a self-starter with excellent communication skills who isn’t fazed by the idea of travelling around the globe. To be able to bring speed, agility and innovation to the ever-changing security challenges, we’re looking for someone with relevant qualifications or installation experience in: structured cabling and containment, telecommunications, radio, or security systems. Show us you’re a team player, great at problem-solving, and can put your academic knowledge or practical installing experience into practice, and within our brilliant team you can make exceptional impact.

Why our people stay

There are so many perks from the moment you join us. We’ve mentioned the contract, the travel, the on-site canteen and more. But we’re also a trusted employer, and we have a real reputation for excellence everywhere we go. That’s why working here brings a sense of pride and job security you won’t find elsewhere.

What happens next

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. Keeping people, assets and information safe through technical installations is a very important task. So, if you’re successful in your application, you’ll need to go through our Developed Vetting (DV) process..

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And a Stonewall Diversity Champion. And Employers for Carers. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
