Infrastructure Engineer (Windows / AD / VMWare)

Infrastructure Engineer (Windows/AD/VMware) - Permanent - £45,000 per annum - Berkshire

Synergize Consulting are now hiring for an Infrastructure Engineer to work at a leading defence client based in Berkshire on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will join the Infrastructure team that work on-premise. They will provide a high level of technical expertise as required and will have a clear passion for problem solving and delivering excellent third-line customer support across a multitude of areas, that include Servers and Storage, Networks and Desktop Workstations. 

Responsibilities include:

- Day-to-Day management of the Server Environment including, but not limited to, Performance and system monitoring, Patching multiple networks, Image Config/Deployment, Server and Storage support, and VMware Administration

- Operational Server Support and can include troubleshooting of Windows, SCOM, SCCM, Storage & Backup environments as part of the wider team responsibilities.

 - Day-to-Day management of the Network Environment including troubleshooting, config changes, cabling, and proactive monitoring.

- Day-to-Day Management of the Desktop Environment including troubleshooting, software updates, AV and monitoring

Experience required:

- Strong background in infrastructure engineering, with a demonstrable record in overseeing the management and monitoring of multiple systems and workstreams at a time.

- Significant experience in supporting Windows operating systems (XP, 7, 10) and Windows Servers (2003-2016) as well as Active Directory domains and servers.

- Strong skills supporting, implementing and administering VMWare systems and servers

- Experience utilising Powershell scripting for virtualisation and automation

- Other strong technical skills that would ideally include Hyper-V, Storage solutions, Azure Cloud solutions and anti-virus and backup products including Symantec.

- Good Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft RDS, WSUS, SCCM, and SCOM.

- Hands-on experience of supporting Operational activities, monitoring & troubleshooting in all areas of Windows, Storage and Backup infrastructure and workstations.

- Previous work experience within the defence sector would be an advantage but not essential

- Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC or DV).
