Job Details

This varied role within the Workforce Development Team offers an opportunity to be part of a team of police officers, Specials and police staff delivering the innovative and successful recruitment and development of Special Constables and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in Hertfordshire.

The post holders will be responsible for managing the online recruitment process, from candidates' initial registering of interest, shortlisting, telephone interviews and attendance at in-house assessment centres. Face to face and online / virtual interviewing will also form part of the post holders' remit.

The post holder should have an understanding of volunteer management and engagement, possess excellent communications skills and be able to manager their own workload.

Hertfordshire Special Constabulary (SC) recruitment supports the College of Policing's Positive Action strategy and is committed to attracting and understanding the needs and motivations of prospective volunteer officers from under represented and diverse backgrounds.

The expectation will be that the post holders will also organise and attend evening SC and PCSO information sessions for prospective candidates, arrange attestation ceremonies, monitor cohorts of officers during training and assist with data collection.

The post holder will be the central point of contact for the administrative function of Special Constabulary officers within several Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs), which includes managing the student officers' Police Action Checklist database.

Flexibility is essential as you will be required to attend some evening Special Constabulary team meetings, within those CSPs, to provide administrative support as required as well as facilitate and attend some evening or weekend recruitment events.

There will be a requirement to support other uniformed recruitment campaigns, particularly PCSO recruitment and post holders may be asked on occasion to assist with regular police officer recruitment.

The post holders should be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

These posts require flexibility in working hours, to accommodate evening and weekend recruitment events. There is no set shift pattern for this role as the team plan their own workloads and attendance at evening / weekend events in collaboration with the needs of the Special Constabulary.
