Job Details

The Control Centre is based in Warrington and forms part of National Tasking and Co-ordination (NTAC) under the Intelligence Directorate. We operate 24/7, 365 days a year maintaining vital situational awareness of Agency operational activity.

We utilise innovative data visualisation tools that provide a detailed overview of Agency activity, results and capacity to Senior Leaders of the NCA. This in turn results in a more informed assessment of emerging threats and risks, and supports decisions concerning the deployment of Agency resources.

Out of hours we facilitate business continuity planning, risk evaluation and escalation. In addition, we co-ordinate the response to national or critical threats with partners from law enforcement and other departments of HM Government.

Job description

The post holder will :

The Senior Officers role is to have a good understanding of the room, they are to assess and prioritise information received be that from the general public, internally or from partners.

To manage the team on shift ensuring the correct resources are in place, adhering to line management responsibilities of a team of 7, including personal development of staff, abstraction management and financial oversight.

The Senior Officer will oversee the team of people that maintains the operational overview of the Agency and ensures all our staff are safe and well equipped to provide the best possible service to the public.

As the team operates 24/7, this post carries a shift allowance of 20% on top of the basic salary and officers must be prepared to work a 24/7 shift pattern.

***All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum with DV fulfilled within 12 months. Responsibilities

The post holder will :

• manage a team within the NCA Control Centre providing 24/7 support across the NCA dealing with internal and external partners/stakeholders.

• be expected to have in-depth understanding of source databases to retrieve and exploit data to remedy queries from the SLT as well as internal/external stakeholders.

• be required to contribute to the daily sit rep by composing the tasking executive summary and provide submissions for the national daily briefing.

• be required to assess incidents of risk and prioritise based on a risk assessment matrix from various communication types (email, phone calls, social media)

• be required to invoke on call functions in the event of an incident requiring NCA niche capabilities.

• be required to co-ordinate a response with NPCC partners to implement child safeguarding/vulnerable persons.

• be required to pro- actively review incidents of risk and effectively implement risk management skills.

• be required to support the teams on shift with effective decision making.

• be required to demonstrate good understanding of recording decisions, authorisations and rationales for use of approved tactics.
