Senior Developer

Guidant Global are seeking an experienced Senior Developer for a full time, 12 month contract position, based in Gloucestershire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python developer to join an agile delivery team. The team allocates its time to the continuous development of a subdomain takeover alerting and reporting service (STAR).

STAR is in a pre-alpha service which scans for vulnerable subdomains and aims to automatically notify domain owners within the UK of the cyber threat.  It makes heavy use of a serverless infrastructure, hosted in AWS, with much of the software being developed in JavaScript, TypeScript and Python. 

As a Senior Developer, you would be responsible for:

• Implementing AWS lambdas and automated analysis components as well as addressing integration, performance optimisation, security, and scalability.
• Building back-end, front-end and API components to serve a variety of user needs, taking responsibility for the quality of code you produce.
• Building automated tests to support our continuous deployment environment.
• Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the team, both developers and non-developers.
• Contributing towards working in an agile, stripy team and helping that team meet its wider goals.
• Participating in our future in-house (2nd line) support (during office hours).
• Being involved in helping recruit developers and, where appropriate, helping sift and interview.

You will be an experienced JavaScript and Python developer with the following essential skills and experience:

• Over 4 years of recent JavaScript, TypeScript & Python development experience.
• Strong NoSQL abilities.
• Strong AWS CDK abilities.
• Excellent working knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, test driven development and mocking.
• Experience with dependency injection and messaging queuing.
• Consistently worked within agile teams, using typical agile tools and techniques.
• Experience of developing for cloud computing platforms, including AWS.
• Ability to quickly research and apply new programming tools and software engineering techniques.
• Experience in the design, development, and delivery of microservice-based solutions.

Additionally, the following skills and experience are desirable:

• SFIA Software Design Skill Level 4.
• SFIA Programming/software development level 5.
• Experience with React.
• Knowledge of IP address re-use, hanging CNAME and cloud-based DNS services.
