Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen got a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to join our team based in Stevenage. As the Manufacturing Tooling Engineer you'll lead tooling activities on NPI projects and provide tooling design expertise to aid the manufacturability of the component (DFM & PFMEA).

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare SOW/specifications for new tooling.
  • Define calibration/maintenance requirements and schedules for both NPI and existing production tooling - managing the execution of respective schedules.
  • Manage storage and configuration of all tooling data (CAD files, drawings, specifications, etc.) including any modifications to improve tooling suites.
  • Provide tool ROM costs and technical expertise for tooling strategy for end to end component manufacture (Molding, Machining, assembly and Paint)
  • Identify and support sites continuous improvement activities from a tooling perspective (lessons learned, Kaizen/VAVE projects, identify and propose new tooling and process technologies).
  • Manage external suppliers to facilitate tool repairs/rework and new tooling to project budget.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proficient in the use of a 3D CAD package (CATIA preferred, others may be considered).
  • Knowledge of design and manufacture of composite moulding tools would be advantageous
  • Ability to understand and follow specific procedures along with generating and reviewing technical documents.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence at all levels of a matrix business as well as interfacing with external customers/suppliers when required.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines (strong prioritization skills)
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office suites
