Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas.

GMPs officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe. The Force has 11 geographical policing areas known as Divisions that ensure it provides the best possible service to people who live, work and visit Greater Manchester.

In this role you will provide support to Senior Investigating Officers (SIOs) and the Deputy SIO in major crime and complex volume or serious crime investigations in relation to the interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects. You will formulate and ensure the application of an ethical interview strategy and debrief interviewers/ interview teams. You will provide specialist advice on the most appropriate method for recording and managing interviews in accordance with Code C of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act in relation to suspects, witnesses and victims. You will assist the Crime Training Unit in the delivery of CPD and Advanced Interview courses.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in PIP 2 investigation, they must be accredited at PIP 2 Advanced Suspect (Tier 3 Suspect) and PIP 2 Advanced Witness (Tier 3 witness) and have attained accreditation as PIP 2 Specialist Interview Advisor (Tier 5) in accordance with ACPO guidelines. Experience of investigative interviewing advisor duties is essential as is the ability to demonstrate the practitioner skills required for the advanced interviewing of suspects and witnesses. Experience in using spread-sheet applications, and the use of analytical data in investigations is also essential.
