The Role of a Project Manager

Your role as Project Manager is to lead/manage the project and the project team. You will be responsible for driving and overseeing the project???s delivery to ensure objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. You will have a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered, enabling benefits to be realised.


Required Skills-  

-       Government/Public background would be ideal.

-       Equivalent experience in delivering in a similar role or programme environment

-       Experience in the release processes from development to deployment

-       Experience of readiness for service activities and managing releases into the live operational environment.

-       Good planning techniques with knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies

-       Knowledge of IT Deployment/Release Management

-       Stakeholder and Supplier Management


Typical Role Responsibilities:

???

???Plan, co-ordinate, schedule and manage releases in collaboration with all stakeholders taking into consideration any interrelated dependencies from other planned work and resource availability.

???Creating a release specific Readiness Checklist agreeing the required activities and responsibilities with the Project Manager and Change and Release Team 

???Ensure quality gateway reviews are implemented to verify deliverables including items such as the test report have been completed and reviewed alongside the release notes prior to deployment of a release. 

???Ensure issues, concerns or risks have been escalated or managed appropriately before allowing a deployment to progress.

???Manage and chair Post Implementation Review (PIR) and lessons learned of releases with technical teams, project and deployment managers and suppliers.

???Recommend to accept or reject the release using judgment to balance the risk and benefits with buy-in from all stakeholders affected and to escalate as appropriate.

???Provide a weekly report which contains a highlight of progress, risks and issues

???Implement release governance and processes documents where they do not exist or for new services, ensuring regular review for relevance to the business
