Contract Lead Manufacturing Engineer

A Contract Lead Manufacturing Engineer is required for a leading global Aerospace manufacturing company. You will use your experience of Aerospace Manufacturing and process improvement to be an vital member of the Manufacturing Engineering department who are charged to ensure design intent is correctly translated into a production system to Time, Cost & Quality for all our processes and products.

Responsibilities:

*Keeping yourself, the ME team and the shopfloor teams safe in their daily tasks.
*Deliver line side shop support and technical problem solving to the production lines and support the wider team of Manufacturing Engineers in the department. This covers Part 21 (OE) and 145 (Repair) cells.
*Technical leadership and governance of the production processes.
*Represent Manufacturing Engineering at daily plant production meetings.
*Control of process standard times, manufacturing Bill's of Materials of Materials (MBOM) and Tooling Bills of Materials.
*Execute structured problem solving and robust root cause corrective actions (RCCA) using industry best practise methods.
*Identify process and technology improvements and see them through research, development and into successful shop floor implementation and benefits realisation.
*Be on the cutting edge of composite and manufacturing / shop floor technology advancements and develop processes, equipment and tooling to continue to be world class.
*Influence and drive the improvements necessary in the various production lines and their respective integrated product teams (IPT)
*Conduct manufacturing process and equipment Research & development and deliver into production
*Contribute to manufacturing technology strategic exercises and roadmaps.
*Provide technical and commercial support to our suppliers through the sourcing teams.

Ideal Experience:

*Experience of working in an aviation production facility.
*Working knowledge of the application of aviation regulations into a manufacturing or repair centre (EASA Part 21 and 145)
*Engineering Bachelors Degree qualified.
*Experience operating in a shop floor environment with continuous improvement to shop floor and sustainment of process qualification
*Knowledge of composite (CFRP) manufacturing and assembly processes.
*Technical process leadership in a similar technically challenging environment function and achieving step change.
*Able to balance daily demands vs project work / long term problem solving
*Excellent Technical problem solving and troubleshooting using structured techniques
*Knowledge of tooling commissioning (both fixturing and cutting tools) and through life maintenance.
*Experience of Machine Tool selection and commissioning
*Cross functional team working including with external suppliers through a sourcing team.
*Project Management basic experience delivering internal improvement projects
*Experience of New Product Introduction processes
*Excellent written and verbal communications, comfortable communicating at all levels of the business
*Commitment to learning and personal development
*Experience of dealing directly with customers and external auditors


*Location of work: Gloucester
*Rate £50 per hour (Inside IR35)
*Contractors required x1
*Duration: 18 Months
*Start Date ASAP
