The Role of a Solution Designer/ Architect Solution Architect to fulfil the technical lead role on COTS system upgrade projects, the role’s technical governance will flow from the Manufacturing & Business Systems Lead Architect (SDA) & report into the Head of Manufacturing & Business Systems Competency Centre. The BAE estate has a mixture of technologies with primary ones including: MS Windows Desktops and Servers, Linux and Unix servers, SQL Server and Oracle Databases, Citrix, and Active Directory.
COTS packages are wide ranging from specialist to more common ERP managed business processes. Typical Role Responsibilities

Defining the technical lifecycle of the project.
Key project phases, activities & deliverables.
Identification of technical resources required to execute the technical phases & activities.
Working with the project manager to define a plan & schedule for implementing the solution.
Design of the overall solution & integrated architecture.
Production of key architecture & design artefacts.
Expected Skills/Qualifications:

Solution designer/ Architect Experience
Designing broad range of applications
Background in programming or business analysis – Desktop and application support side
Previous desktop and server build experience
Oracle
SQL Server
Windows Server
Well versed in database technologies
A bit of Linux experience

Strong background in a multi-faceted team and environment
Self-driven
Effective and influential oral and written communications.
You are innovative and able to drive improvement
