Remote with regular travel to Devonport, Plymouth

Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking to recruit two experienced Senior Cost Engineers to support on major infrastructure projects across the Devonport naval base in Plymouth which is one of the largest of its kind in Western Europe.

Our parent company, Babcock and the Ministry of Defence work in partnership to operate and maintain this co-located site by providing through-life support for submarines, surface ships and associated systems and equipment. Due to the nation's naval demands there is heavy investment into upgrading a variety of facilities to support current and future vessels, and Cavendish Nuclear are playing a key role in the highly complex delivery of these programmes.

The Senior Cost Engineer is responsible for applying requirements management , budgeting & cost control , financial management , change management and benefits management independently primarily in complex situations across P3M.

You will have the ability to developing and agree scope/budgets for projects and/or programmes and controlling forecast and actual costs against them. This includes the provision of risk & opportunity analysis on these budgets and change management.

This is a highly rewarding position working within a market leading nuclear engineering organisation. We support both UK and international programmes with a range of services and strive to be best in class across our various contracts.

What do I need to be able to do the role?

You will need to have extensive experience with applying budgeting and cost control in a complex environment as well as Awareness of various contracting methodologies (e.g. FIDIC/NEC3-4/JCT etc) including resolution of claims and disputes.
We would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

• Experience managing and controlling financial change management on the project and assurance of alignment with the business/contractual requirements.
• Knowledge of developing/implementing and maintaining Project Baseline Budgets incl Control Account.
• Provision of internal and external financial performance & cost reports including earned value and variation analysis.
• Management and control of cost risk budget and drawdown and input into the risk management process.

What else do I need to know?

• All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
• The role is on a permanent basis.
• Location can be flexible with regular travel to Plymouth. Overnight stays and travel expenses will be covered by the Cavendish Nuclear.
