Airbus Defence and Space are looking for a Bid Manager to join our Cyber Security division based in Newport, South Wales to ensure that Bid Management activities are managed and conducted in a way that enables Airbus to win and enhance the future portfolio of clients.

Reporting directly to the Head of Bids you will be working with the Campaign Lead to prepare the bid and supporting Sales for the sales campaign to ensure win strategy and hot buttons are reflected in the bid.

You will manage opportunities that have passed the internal bid/no bid decision and then through the whole bid life cycle resulting in the delivery of a commercially and technically compelling offer.

This role will involve some travel for business. There is an option to work at other UK sites (Stevenage and Portsmouth) but Newport is preferred.

Tasks and Accountabilities

  • You will prepare and submit the complete proposal in a timely manner and manage through the Acquire Business Process.
  • You will support the Sales Manager to establish "Price to Win" and a value proposition.
  • You will ensure alignment with customer expectations, while fulfilling internal and external regulations (legal, export control, ethics and compliance etc.)
  • You will ensure consistency of the bid with company profitability and cash objectives, keeping in mind market pricing levels and customer budgets
  • You will lead and manage the bid preparation from strategy meeting to final validation, before submission to the customer via the Sales Plan and lead the bid project and the bid team, including coordination of partners as required
  • You will draw up a bid which comprises technical (e.g. Statement of Work) and/or commercial (e.g. price, risks, T&Cs) aspects
  • You will ensure the compliance checks and export applications which need to be processed in parallel to the bid preparation are completed.
  • You will prepare the required assumptions and constraints (e.g. pricing and associated cost drivers, as appropriate) for finance
  • You will ensure that the bid is validated by appropriate committees
  • You will support the Sales manager to present and discuss the bid as needed

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in bid proposal development and delivery within the defence sector or a related industry
  • Able to work effectively across a portfolio of opportunities at any one time
  • Self-starter and proactive with a strong work drive
  • Excellent communicator who can provide clear and concise messaging and progress reporting at all levels within the business
  • Collaborative working style with the confidence and integrity to earn customer and internal stakeholders confidence and respect
  • Experience of (or training in) working within a recognised bid/proposal methodology
  • Evidence of achieving Customer intimacy with defence customers in MOD DE&S, Defence Digital (ISS) or front line commands
