Cavendish Nuclear

About the role

Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking to recruit a number of experienced CS&A Engineers based across the UK. Cavendish Nuclear is constantly expanding, and due to a number of high profile contract wins we are looking to increase our CS&A capability to support on highly complex Marine and Nuclear projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Civil, Structural and Architectural (CS&A) team within Cavendish Nuclear, the UK's leading supplier to the nuclear industry and a growing global force. The breadth of our expertise means we are able to offer unrivalled experience and specialist knowledge across all aspects of the nuclear life cycle, from design and build, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning, waste management and remediation.

You will be part of a dynamic team undertaking bespoke and innovative designs of reinforced concrete, steel and masonry structures for decommissioning and new build projects, as well as support to operating nuclear sites. The projects you undertake will often be in relation to structures and infrastructure associated with state-of-the-art mechanical handling equipment and their process and electrical systems, but can also involve stand-alone civil/structural tasks for a range of sectors, for example structural inspections and site surveys, and will be undertaken primarily for sites across UK with some projects based internationally.

Due to our vast experience within the nuclear industry, we are often trusted to undertake projects through the entire project lifecycle, and you will therefore have an opportunity to be involved in projects from initial scheme and concept design, to engineering and detailed design, overseeing construction, right through to eventual decommissioning. This is particularly unique within a consultancy environment and what makes our projects and work so rewarding.

This is a highly rewarding position working within a market leading nuclear engineering organisation that will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a variety of nuclear projects. We support UK and international organisations with a range of services and strive to be best in class across our various contracts.

Role requirements

You will need to have experience in a CS&A related role, and have the gravitas to work within a multi-disciplinary team. We would also like you to have all or some experience with the below duties;

• Delivering design work, inspections and construction site support on projects for a range of public and private sector clients within the UK and overseas. Work encompasses the full lifecycle of a project.
• Concept and Feasibility studies for multi discipline design projects.
• Analysis and Design using engineering software such as Tekla and Robot as well as producing hand calculations.
• Preparation of Calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, Inter discipline design coordination and supervision.
• Liaise with Technicians in the preparation of Revit models.
• Working with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high profile projects.
• Provide technical support to other members of the team.
• Ensure all work to be carried out with a positive attitude toward safety, both in design and in the office environment.

What else do I need to know?

• This role can be based near any of our sites which are Plymouth, Bristol, Newbury, Manchester, Cumbria, Rosyth.
