Job Details

The Aurora Engineering Partnership between QinetiQ, Atkins and BMT supports DE&S with the
delivery of critical defence engineering services. Whiteflare is an Engineering Delivery Provider to Aurora and looking to fill the role of an Aircraft Weapons Test and Safety Specialist to provide support to the Torpedoes, Tomahawk and Harpoon Project Team in DE&S, part of the Weapons Operating Centre.

TTH covers development, manufacture, ISS and disposal. It is responsible for the Spearfish heavyweight torpedo and Stingray lightweight torpedo. Stingray is deployed from T23 Frigates, and Merlin and Lynx Mk8 / Wildcat helicopters. The Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM) is carried on Trafalgar and Astute Class submarines. The Harpoon is carried on T23 and T45 Frigates and is to be air launched from Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft.

Role Description:

A former Air Armourer would be ideal.

Familiarity with Munition/Air Platform integration and preparation of relevant support documentation.

  • Maintenance / review of key engineering and safety documents
  • Characterisation of Weapon Bay
    • Define Test requirement
    • Support development of statement of work for test house
    • Determine scope of test including weapon bay configurations, data products / collection required, Sortie profiles, etc.
  • Provide support to Ad Hoc engineering tasks to support queries from.    
    • End User
    • Supply Chain manager
    • Safety Manager
  • Current SC essential. UK National only
  • OME experience is desirable
