Job Description Summary As the Manager of Imaging Operations, you will be the line manager for all Medical Imaging Scientists/operational resources in Imaging Technology whose role is to support the development of new imaging contrast agents (CT, MRI and Ultrasound) and molecular imaging tracers (PET, SPECT) through all phases of development.
You will lead a team of imaging professionals that support all projects in the Pharmaceutical Diagnostics R&D pipeline.

The role is based in the Research and Development department in the Imaging Technology Group and reports to the Global Head of Imaging Technology. The role is based in Amersham at the Pollards Woods office at Nightingales Lane Chalfont St Giles HP8 4SP.

Job Description Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 6­-7 imaging professionals and students on a variety of development projects.
  • Provide input and oversight to ensure a robust and scalable end ­to ­end process governing imaging site setup, image receipt, image data handling including scientific image Quality Control and Blinded Image Evaluations.
  • Streamline the image data handling process and archiving while keeping the productivity and quality of work within agreed standards by selecting appropriate infrastructure, budget and resources for each project.
  • Ensure image quality and GCP compliance at clinical sites and/or during image data handling and analysis.
  • Retain and develop, by training and recruitment, the long-term competencies required to support the Imaging PDx - R&D product development plan.
  • Proactively plan, and continuously monitor, project resources in agreement with Technology Leaders and Global Head of Imaging Technology.
  • Develop and oversee the maintenance of internal and external technology networks.
  • Work closely with relevant functions to ensure that any software tools used by the group undergo appropriate GxP validation and that the validated state is maintained.
  • Ensure that all processes and projects are audit ­ready for both internal and regulatory authorities and represent GEHC in any inspections of the imaging operations processes.
  • Provide input and develop in clinical study manuals. Create and edit Standard Operating Procedure's (SOPs) and work instructions.

Qualifications and experience
  • BSc or MSc, (or equivalent) in a relevant physical sciences degree or engineering with extensive, relevant work experience in the general field of medical imaging technology (e.g., imaging physics, image processing and knowledge of imaging hardware and software).
  • Significant experience in people management.
  • Knowledge in the scientific and clinical research of diagnostic imaging agents.
  • Competency in using medical imaging workstations.
  • Experience with Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM).
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, documenting and following technical problems through to completion. In­ depth expertise and hands ­on experience in scanner qualification (phantom imaging and analysis) and image QC.
  • Experience creating and editing Standard Operating Procedure's (SOPs) and/or work instructions.
  • Proven track record of process design and implementation; extremely clear thinker.
  • Experience in the design, planning and conduct of Blinded Image Evaluations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and world­wide regulatory requirements. Proven ability to prioritize delivery according to defined milestones, multiple projects and changing business priorities.
  • Highly organised and able to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to persevere and work effectively during intense, busy periods.
Desirable skills
  • Relevant professional qualifications and certifications (e.g., State Registration as a Clinical Scientist or Board Certification, Member or Fellow in an appropriate professional body (e.g Professional medical physics certification), licensed technologist or radiographer).
  • Prior experience working at an imaging core lab or similar environment. Experience with writing clinical study manuals (e.g. imaging manual or image acquisition protocol).
  • Experience with leading Blinded Image Evaluations and having direct contact with clinical trial sites.
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to promote teamwork, cross functional and cross business collaborations.
