We’re looking for talented and tenacious Senior Business Analysts to join our digital teams to take the lead in creating world-class services in the justice system. We use cutting-edge agile software development approaches to make rapid but meaningful improvements to public services that live up to the unique challenges of MOJ's responsibility to society.

Business analysts:

make sure project outcomes are aligned with the service vision and business strategy challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose collaborate and lead effective communication with all stakeholders to support design, build and delivery to meet the user and business needs

A senior business analyst has a good understanding of the enterprise arena and works across multiple services. They contribute to the development of best practice and lead activities for their community of practice (internally and across government).

 


As Senior Business Analyst, you will: 

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their needs, processes, and constraints in order to facilitate effective and efficient business process change
  • Conduct effective discovery in to the “As Is Current State” of processes and services
  • Work with product managers, service architects and technical architects to develop understanding of relevant problem spaces and the objectives of key stakeholders
  • Document business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to the definition of precise problems for analysis and investigation
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members to establish the options for change in a “To Be Future State” that addresses the user and business needs
  • Conduct cost benefit analyses when considering opportunities for business process improvement and technological change
  • Effectively present options for change to business stakeholders and programme leadership that allows for informed decisions to be made
  • Work with product managers to write and prioritise user stories
  • Define high level and low-level requirements in user story format, documenting acceptance criteria that allows for testing to be conducted     
  • Define success metrics and mechanisms for monitoring data through the life cycles of services
  • Contribute to the production and continued refinement of business cases through the life cycles of products and services ensuring the incorporation of proportionately robust and good quality evidence
  • Assess the attractiveness and achievability of potential product iterations, and compare the case for doing further work against doing something completely different
  • Actively contribute to the wider Business Analyst community and promote best practice methodologies and knowledge sharing
  • Act as a conduit between technical development teams and the business throughout the delivery lifecycle, including through implementation and deployment of products and services
  • Participate in relevant business change activities including training, communications and approaches to rolling out products and services that ensure business benefits and outcomes are attained

 

 

You’ll have/be:

  • The ability to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes
  • The ability to investigate problems, analyse options for new and existing services, and provide recommendations for solutions
  • The ability to analyse current services and processes and identify and implement opportunities to optimise them
  • The ability to apply a digital understanding to your work
  • The awareness of innovation (and ability to apply it to your work)
  • Experience in eliciting, defining and managing requirements
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at various levels
  • User -focused – able to identify and engage with users and stakeholders to collate user needs evidence; the ability to use quantitative and qualitative data about users to turn user focus into outcomes

 


It would be great to also have:

  • Valid and active SC clearance
  • Experience in business process testing
  • Understanding of enterprise and business architecture
  • Good situation modelling skills
