Job Description Summary Responsible for leading a team in a newly formed team in Commercial Operations with key responsibilities communicating Grid Software value to customers and potential customers through the generation of differentiated proposals for new systems, upgrades and additional services. Responsible for developing new tools, processes and standard work packages, and through the application and continuous practice of Lean tools and thinking to improve the organizations efficiency, accuracy, and customer focus. Drive improved integration with Sales/Pre-Sales, and with Project Delivery, at the transition and handover points, to ensure great commercial strategies are reflected in proposals, and to ensure that winning proposals can be executed efficiently by the Project Delivery organization for an improved customer experience. Will lead a team of SMEs in Asset Management and Analytics products, as well as, SMEs for project estimation for both Asset Management and Asset Control projects, for the East team covering the EURAF and MENAT regions.

Job Description In this role, you will:
  • Assist in forming a new organization within Commercial Operations for GE Digital Grid Software Solutions.
  • Lead and drive a team made up of technical SMEs in Asset Management and Analytics, and SMEs in project estimation for both Asset Management and Asset Control projects.  Will also be a contributor, and therefore must be an SME in GE's current Asset Management or Analytics products or in project estimating.
  • The newly created organization is a key function for the success of GE Digital Grid Software.  This organization will be responsible for differentiating GE from competitors, driving wins in competitive markets, and ensuring existing customers are delighted as the progress with additional services and upgrades over time.  As such, this role will be responsible for creating a culture of people with the passion to compete, while being a function that celebrates successes often and improves every day.  Creating a culture of belonging, where talent is attracted and retained is a key responsibility of this Leader.
  • Work closely with Commercial Managers, Sales Managers, and Product Managers to drive wins in the market.
  • Stay current with product capabilities and documentation.
  • Manage customer specification review and response, proposal development, SOW creation for complex software sales and service agreements. Ensure the correct estimates and schedules are put in place such that the Project Delivery team can execute effectively, driving a positive customer experience.
  • Create and or improve tools used to respond to RFPs to improve efficiency and accuracy.  Create transition work packages for key transitions and integration points with other parts of the business (Pre-Sales/Sales and Project Delivery).  Continuously apply Lean principles and create a culture of Lean as our approach as we identify problems, problem solve, monitor countermeasures, and deploy daily management as we improve and pivot the new organization as needed. Participate in Customer negotiations from both functional/technical and commercial perspectives.
  • Use SalesForce.com to manage proposal workflow & develop pipeline forecasts.
  • Lead communications at all organizational levels including deal reviews with senior and executive leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in Asset Management, Engineering (R&D) or in Project Delivery.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical solution architecting experience as part of proposal generation.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the United Kingdom is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job. 
  • Must be willing to travel.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of / background in software and expertise in Smallworld GIS products or Analytics, and related applications. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical requirements and overall proposal generation activities are completed and are within the deal creation process guidelines, and you will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives
  • Prior experience in software development or implementation and project delivery.
  • Experience in Problem Solving, Daily Management, and the application of Lean principles.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, driven self-starter with ability to operate independently.

Technical Expertise:
  • Familiarity with Smallworld GIS products or other GE Analytics products.
