£18,533 per annum + Benefits

Here at Serco we're looking for an Operational Support Officer to join us at HMP Lowdham Grange based in Nottinghamshire. The position of Business Enterprises Distribution and Recycling Operative is responsible for the daily oversight of the delivery and collection of all goods, materials and supplies for Business Enterprises department. This involves loading and unloading the goods to designated routes in a safe timely manner, and review orders to ensure they are delivered/collected complete and in good order.

As the BE Distribution and Recycling Operative you are responsible for driving Serco's Governing Principles, ensuring that your area of responsibility functions efficiently and effectively, operating within the bounds of all local Directors Rules, PSI's, HMIP Expectations, rules and regulations and expectations that members of the public would have of yourself and Serco.

As part of this you'll:
  • Ensure all vehicle maintenance checks are carried out daily and documented in the appropriate record book. Report any faults or issues with the vehicle and ensure that it is clean and fit for purpose.
  • Liaise with BE staff and managers daily to organise deliveries, prioritise workloads and plan your routes. Maintain good working relationships with external partner companies
  • Packing, loading and unloading deliveries and collections. Operate manual lifting equipment.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and dispatch notes are correct and accurate
  • Assist/cover the BE forklift truck driver, Recycling or BE units when not driving


What you'll need to do the role

First and foremost, you'll ideally have worked in a similar role in a commercial environment or can demonstrate experience working in custodial setting however this is not essential.

The successful applicant will be computer literate, able to work on their own initiative, approachable, efficient and reliable. We are looking for someone that can communicate at all levels, build strong working relationships and be a successful part of an ever-growing team.
