Senior Planner

We are currently recruiting for a CTC Cleared Senior Planner on behalf of the Cabinet Office.

As a CTC Cleared Senior Planner, your main responsibilities would be: 

• To ensure that BPDG planning quality standards are defined, communicated and met for all planning products.
• To own the design and oversight of NIP plans
• To run and maintain the BPDG inter-department dependency function and log for all border delivery
• To resolve or escalate any inter-dependency dispute, delivery misalignment or engagement issue
• To provide management information and reports covering interdependency progress to SCS and ministerial audiences.
• To manage the working relationship with Defra PMO colleagues, including communicating assurance concerns to departments for resolution
• To assure and summarise Defra plans, based on experience and related departmental board papers and XO briefings.
• To assure and summarise BPDG Operational Testing plans, based on experience and reports and XO briefings
• To ensure all data for the above areas is current, accurate and is clearly linked to source documentation in the event of challenge or audit.
• To communicate effectively with the reporting and risks teams.

You’ll have relevant experience in:

• Excellent understanding of HMG Border delivery, with a focus on NI Protocol, Defra projects and programmes and operational testing.
• Be highly responsive in a demanding, fast paced environment supporting Directors General, CDL and No.10 hub with accurate and highly relevant reports and papers to inform ministerial decision making.
• Ability to engage and challenge, Director General and other SCS grade on matters to do with interdependencies.
• Experience of writing Ministerial briefing papers and reports.
• Planning and delivery assurance experience of major change programme delivery, including systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, to lead the cross-government dependencies forum, manage and handle escalated issues relating to Defra PMO and relevant BPDG areas.
• Excellent analytical skills, with ability to triangulate information from different sources.
• Demonstrate awareness of political sensitivities and ensure all PMO team communications reflect this.
