You might know us for the great work we do across our wide variety of projects. We're proud to say it's thanks to our people's diversity of thought, expertise, and knowledge. And when you join us, you'll be a part of this genuinely collaborative environment, where everyone's voice is valued and treated equally.

With exciting new opportunities across the UK we are looking to attract the brightest and best talent, and we have roles suitable for candidates who have a background in PMO, Business Consultancy and/or Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Services (across all delivery methodologies). Experience of consultancy or implementing technology in programme environments is of interest, but not essential.

Our consulting services are provided across the entire project lifecycle across our key sectors: aviation; defence; security; and local and central government. We also collaborate with our colleagues in other parts of the Atkins business world-wide. We solve the most interesting challenges facing organisations today by promoting an innovative and collaborative culture. We develop new ideas and solutions with our clients to address the challenges of today and maximise the opportunities in the future.

Initially, much of the work will be for our government clients in the security and defence sectors, but there may be opportunities for you to expand into other sectors over time. As this is a consultancy role, travel may be required for some assignments.

We're passionate about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Simply put, this a great place to be. So, when it comes to your life outside of work, ask us about our flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life. We actively encourage candidates who are returning to work.

Read more about how you can thrive with us.

Your purpose:

We are recruiting for various levels of experience. The successful candidate is dynamic, engaging and will excel when working alongside clients. They are driven to affect change and deliver to a high standard in their environments. It is essential you possess effective stakeholder skills and problem-solving ability. With sometimes competing priorities, good time management and prioritisation skills are essential. Our people are inquisitive, pro-active, and reliable partners that can help maximise the value from digital capability and solutions. The successful candidate will help their clients survive and thrive in an increasingly complex world, displaying leadership to help them solve and navigate different problems.

You will need a strong ability to work cooperatively, supporting and championing the growth and development of colleagues, demonstrating high emotional intelligence with effective questioning, and listening skills.

What you can bring:

We value qualifications but know that this is no substitute for real world experience. You will have a working knowledge and demonstrable experience in all or some of the following areas. You will:

  • Identify problems and work collaboratively to develop actions/solutions with, and for, our clients and our team.
  • Communicate to key stakeholders via various channels (written and verbal), including presenting information through reports, dashboards, and slides as appropriate.
  • Practically apply structured, waterfall and agile methodologies (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2, SAFe, MSP, DSDM, Scrum), recognising what levels of governance are appropriate in each situation.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with a diverse set of colleagues, clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support and lead in PMO capabilities such as risk & issue management, project planning, scheduling, and monitoring, reporting, governance, requirements capture & management etc., ideally with a specialism in one or more.
  • Understand Agile project delivery, with experience using a variety of supporting tools and techniques (e.g. Planning Increments, SCRUM, Kanban, JIRA, Lean Start Up, Value Proposition Canvas etc.).
  • Actively seek to continue your professional development and have obtained or are working towards chartership with a relevant body.
  • Possess a proactive attitude to learning from your peers and willing to support junior members of the team technically, whilst being a role model in softer skills.
  • Be commercially astute, aware of the financial and commercial considerations we and our clients as businesses must balance.
