New challenges await Detective Constables in Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

GMP is now recruiting Detective Constables to join our Investigation teams. We are a large force with a police family culture where detectives are held in high regard. We are committed to valuing and supporting our officers and the professional development of our detectives is essential. We welcome applications to this vacancy from qualified officers, and officers that have just passed the NIE and are busy building the ICIDP portfolio with their current force.

GMP offers a wide variety of opportunities for detectives within reactive and proactive crime teams, public protection, major and serious organised crime and for specialist interviewers. The Chief Constable is also committed to regular promotion opportunities for those aspiring to be the future leaders.

Greater Manchester is an excellent place to live and work. There are good access routes to all of the policing boroughs and the North West is full of beautiful places to visit, including the Lake District, Wales and beautiful coast lines of Yorkshire and Northern England. In order to apply you must be confirmed in rank of a police constable, successful applicants will be invited in for a competency based interview and you will have to pass a medical, background checks and a job related fitness test. Successful applicants must be able to join a bespoke 8 Day induction course.

Please note that you must be employed by a Home Office Force in order to apply, or the Ministry of Defence (MOD), if you have been recruited after 2014 and have attended SEARCH and followed the IPLDP training programme. Please note that you will need to provide proof of completion of the IPLDP training at the eligibility stage.
