DevOps Automation Engineer

Europol seeks consultancy services in the area of ICT Operations and Infrastructure area. The consultancy services are needed on a temporary basis mainly for DEVOPS/Automation engineering activities.

The goal of the project is to deliver a system for the use of all European member states, to exchange information that enables the removal of terrorist content online.

The consultant will work in the Solutions Deployment team within the ICT Operations unit. The team is composed of 10-15 team members. The consultant will report to the Head of team.

Business requirements’ gathering is completed and development has already started however, other parts of the project are still under design and delivery (infrastructure on-prem and cloud).

Technological stack and /or methodologies the consultant will be using:

Terraform, Ansible, Powershell, Python, Azure DevOps Services, Rancher, Docker Swarm, etc.

The consultant will perform the following tasks/services in relation to DEVOPS/Automation engineering:

• Plan, test and develop infrastructure and application automation
• Implement automated deployment and configuration
• Support day-to-day activities of deploying servers and applications
• Support continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Establish and maintain procedures to the deployment of information systems
• Monitor and maintain the supporting configuration management infrastructure
• Design, implement and maintain the build/release infrastructure
• Improve the predictability and reliability of software releases with the implementation of automated build, test and deployment tools and processes on-premises, on the public cloud (Azure) and in a hybrid cloud setup
• Maintain and improve our Docker/Kubernetes infrastructure, both in the cloud (e.g. Azure) and on-premises (Rancher)
• Develop and improve deployments with Terraform, Ansible, Powershell, Python, etc.

Mandatory requirements

• Working knowledge of English on level B2 or higher
• Level of education corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework, which typically corresponds to a bachelor’s level or 3 years of higher education
• More than 9 years of experience in ICT (e.g. as developer, system administrator, software engineer, infrastructure engineer, DevOps engineer, etc.)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an international/multi-cultural environment
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with systems and IT
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud
• A minimum of 3 years of experience administering a continuous integration server (e.g Team Foundation Server/ Azure DevOps Server, Jenkins, Gitlab)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience creating build and deployment pipelines
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working with Kubernetes
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with Docker and micro-services architecture
• A minimum of 5 years of experience scripting or programming with Python, Powershell, Java or .NET
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with an Agile methodology
• Microsoft Azure certification (e.g. Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert, etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of DevOps principles and best practices (continuous delivery, continuous integration, continuous deployment, use of automation to improve efficiency, feedback loops, fail fast, etc.)

Desirable:

• Certification: Kubernetes (e.g. Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, etc.)
