The day job

The Digital Operations Manager is a service management role that sits within the Service Delivery Office and collaborates with the Service Delivery Manager. A valued member of the team, you are responsible for all the operational ITIL functions within the D5 account and lead a team covering all aspects of account services. Your role is to coordinate your team leaders’ functions in order to provide an exceptional service to the client. Your service will deliver all core ITIL functions including (but not limited to) monitoring, reporting, planning and problem management, with outputs being fed into the account backlog for delivery via an agile DevOps team. To be effective, this role will require a strong technical understanding of the core delivered services including end user and platform, cloud, virtualisation, infrastructure and data centre services.

Your service encompasses two main data centre locations and a number of smaller satellite locations across the South of England. Part of your responsibilities will also be the transition of new services from our P3 capability. The future role may also include working in a multi-supplier environment under a client SIAM function as part of the customer’s disaggregation programme.

Key responsibilities:

  • To lead on Digital Operations Management for the D5 Account, responsible for a multiple set of cloud, virtualisation and physical infrastructure services.
  • Assume responsibility for leading the transformation of your service to a Lean DevOps environment.
  • Drive innovation and internal service improvements to continually improve service to the client’s user base.
  • Provide people leadership to champion a strong culture of service excellence and user experience by displaying the Sopra Steria values.
  • Line management of team leads responsible for delivering individual aspects of the service being offered by the D5 Account.
  • Reporting to senior stakeholders within the client and Sopra Steria (account and sector).
  • Accountable for meeting and reporting on service levels, KPIs and PIs as per the Service Level Agreements across the delivered service.
  • Collaborating with the Service Delivery Manager and Programme Delivery Manager to manage the service transition of major new digital services.
  • Assume responsibility for leading the cost base across all teams directly under your line management.
  • Own the maintenance and update of CIS management plans, processes, procedures, documentation and standards. This includes Business/IT Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
  • Lead services primarily in accordance with Dstl requirements, policies and procedures; whilst at the same time applying standards as defined in the Business Management System (BMS) and external standards applicable to the services such as ITILv3.0 / v4.0, IAMM and Quality standards including ISO20000 and TickITplus.

Required skills

You need to have:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Solid knowledge / understanding of ITIL v3.0/4.0
  • Experience in service management and principles.
  • Experience with working in a technical delivery environment.
  • Understanding of the SIAM delivery model
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills to work at all levels
  • Has worked with senior customer stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience of agile and DevOps delivery method
  • The ability to aggregate and assess diverse information sources and relate to service obligations.
  • The ability to report clearly and accurately across multiple service levels with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in coordinating resolutions to major issues across multiple teams.
