Greater Manchester Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost 3 million safe, spread over more than 1,200 sq. km. Manchester in particular has been billed as the most diverse city in Europe with its population speaking at least 200 different languages, leading to the city being named as Britain's "City of languages".

GMP are committed to ensure that the make-up of our workforce is reflective of the communities we serve and we recognise that having a diverse workforce makes us more approachable and relevant to the public.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the fast paced operational policing unit in a newly developed role within GMP Legal Services. As a paralegal you will manage your own varied and interesting caseload effectively and proactively, assisting in the provision of safeguarding to the communities of Greater Manchester. The work will include considering civil preventative orders under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Stalking Protection Act 2019 and other similar types of order in the Magistrates Court. Under supervision, you will also provide advice to divisional officers regarding legislation and case law and prepare evidence files for applications before the courts and tribunals under direction from solicitors within the unit.

If you are hard-working, motivated, adaptable and able to demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to consider and prepare statements and consider evidence for applications with minimum supervision as well as being a strong team player, we would welcome your application.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting.
