Job Details

Keeping people safe is the primary aim of Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Policing is now more complex than ever before and we face new threats to public safety. GMP is one of the largest police forces in the UK; a force which is uniquely placed in a vibrant region, capitalising on the opportunities afforded by devolution and significant cooperation in partnership working.

We are looking for a solicitor to join the Civil Litigation Unit. You will handle a caseload of litigated and un-litigated public liability, employer's liability and motor claims against the Chief Constable and will supervise the work of unqualified staff. You will have a strong understanding of civil procedure and the legislation and case law relevant to civil actions against the police.

You will be capable of proactively handling the defence of complex claims and of effectively communicating and rationalising your decision-making on liability, merits and value.

If you are hard-working, motivated and adaptable, want to take this challenging and rewarding opportunity to work as part of a friendly and supportive team and can demonstrate the attributes and behaviours that GMP expects of all its police staff and officers, we will welcome your application.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting and training.

GMP is an Equal Opportunities employer.

GMP operates an Agile Working Policy promoting a work life balance.
