Greater Manchester Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost 3 million safe, spread over more than 1,200 sq. km. Manchester in particular has been billed as the most diverse city in Europe with its population speaking at least 200 different languages, leading to the city being named as Britain's "City of languages".
GMP are committed to ensure that the make-up of our workforce is reflective of the communities we serve and we recognise that having a diverse workforce makes us more approachable and relevant to the public.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hard working, motivated and adaptable legal practitioner to join our friendly and supportive in-house Legal Services Team, Civil Litigation Unit, based at Force Headquarters. If you can demonstrate the attributes and behaviours that GMP expects of all its police staff and officers, we will welcome your application.
Civil Litigation Paralegal: full time, permanent
We are looking for a paralegal to join our team. You will manage your own caseload of mainly pre-litigated civil claims against the Chief Constable and will assist the in-house solicitors with litigated civil claims.
You will be responsible for responding to civil claims, acting always in the best interests of the Chief Constable: carrying out investigations and research, dealing with disclosure of documents and making and effectively communicating your decisions on merits, liability and value.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting and training.
