Position summary:

One of our clients key critical IT infrastructure programmes, employing over 100 UK consultants, is looking for Automation Test Engineers to join their Gloucester based teams developing truly Enterprise scale Cloud infrastructure solutions. This is one of the few programmes within the UK that develop infrastructures at such scale and complexity.

All colleagues work in a supportive team environment, where initiative and continuous development is encouraged. Whatever your current level of experience, the technical breadth of the programme offers the ability to extend and deepen your skill set, where training is delivered through a combination of mentoring, on-line and classroom based courses via technical partners.

Job role and responsibilities:

Our clients operating model is to work with new customer requirements to design, build and test virtualised environments, and thereafter to provide a business-as-usual service to maintain and enhance the delivered business critical systems. You will have strong core testing skills to encompass testing of infrastructure or ability to adapt testing skills to infrastructure verification. You will be involved in the full test lifecycle, creating test data, executing test scenarios, producing test reports, and contributing to defect investigations. Our client tests cloud infrastructure solutions, and you will be responsible for leveraging test automation frameworks wherever this is efficient to do so.

Automation Test Engineers will also have the opportunity to be involved in engineering activities associated with the design and implementation of our infrastructure solutions.

You will need to be a confident communicator both written and oral, and able to work collaboratively.

  • Where domain specific standards exist for test coverage, ensure they are understood and are complied with, and that appropriate evidence is available to demonstrate compliance
  • Produce test conditions and automated test scripts from the test scenarios and obtain sign-off; following agreed test standards and processes. You will be able to design test scripts in modular fashion to facilitate re-use and maintenance with support from more experienced team members
  • Engage with users, architects and other stakeholders to understand requirements and relevant standards and then agree test coverage
  • Execute test scripts and raise defects as required, following agreed test standards and processes. Contribute to defect investigation, collaborating effectively with other stakeholders
  • Produce test records (test cases, test execution results, defects) in line with project standards

Alongside a competitive salary, you will have access to an annual bonus plan and share scheme making you a member not just an employee. You will also have the option to benefit from private medical and dental insurance, flexible retirement options, childcare vouchers and a cycle to work scheme.
