Operational Research Analyst, DSTL, up to £480/day

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory are seeking an Operational Research Analyst to join their team in Fareham.

Initial contracts will run for 1 year and offer a rate up to £480/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires Active DV (Developed Vetting) clearance. Due to the time taken to achieve DV and the backlog in security vetting it will not be possibly to consider candidates without existing DV clearance for this contract role. Candidates must be sole UK nationals.

The Role and Skillset Requirements – Hiring Manager Summary

We need an experienced Operational Research Analyst to provide analytical support to a number of projects relating to Special Projects and EOD&S. This will require a broad OR analytical skill set (including soft systems methodology, multi-criteria decision analysis, process mapping, systems analysis, facilitation of workshops, user interviews, historical analysis, literature reviews) and relevant domain knowledge in order to be able to lead and conduct tasks to support evidence-based decision making, to inform force development, capability planning and procurement.

Main Responsibilities

• You will be required to provide analytical advice to customers and stakeholders within the MOD and Armed Forces.
• You will be responsible for liaising with customers and stakeholders to understand, shape and develop their requirements for support.
• You will then be responsible for designing, developing, delivering and exploiting a suitable cost-effective analytical approach to meet their needs.
• You will also be responsible for keeping customers and stakeholders informed of progress throughout the project and the production and delivery of presentations and reports summarising the work.
• You will not have any budgetary responsibility, but will provide technical leadership of projects, or work packages within projects, ensuring the work is completed to time and quality.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
