Babcock has been selected as the Metropolitan Police Service's (Met Police) learning partner, working with a consortium of four London-based universities - Anglia Ruskin University, Brunel University London, University of East London and University of West London - to support the UK's largest police service with the training of its new officer recruits from 2020.

The partnership with the Met Police will last until at least 2028, with a possibility to extend for a further two years, and is set at a maximum contract value of £309 million, dependent on the number of recruits trained under the programme.

Due to this exciting contract win, we are now looking to recruit a Functional Skills Tutor to design and deliver effective training solutions to all Student Police Officers and employees who require Functional Skills qualifications. You will ensure all training required is planned and delivered to meet the PEQF programme plan and provide guidance & support to effectively support learners with the Functional Skills e-learning system.

This will be rewarding position that will give you the opportunity to use your experience in order to guide and mentor learners on their journey to becoming fully fledged officers, you'll be Supporting learners on a one-to-one and group basis, as and when required.

What do I need to be able to do the role?

You will need to hold a recognised teaching qualification at level 3 or above and hold level 2 Maths, English and IT as minimum.

We would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

• Previous experience with delivery of Functional Skills teaching.
• Be a confident speaker, with experience of group delivery.
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Minimum two years training design/delivery experience with previous history in delivery maths and English sessions.

What else do I need to know?

• The role is mostly remote working with occasional monthly travel to Universities in London. Site visits will typically involve group delivery exercises.
• These roles are on a permanent basis.
• All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
