The Role of a Project Support Officer ??? (Demand Management)

The role of the Demand Manager covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of demand across N&I. The Demand Manager enables the smooth delivery of the demand by supporting demand lead, project managers through the operation of delivery management processes, actions, and activities on their behalf.

A Demand Manager must support the ethos of the Function to develop a new culture of excellence across project delivery. It is essential a Demand Manager has a can-do attitude; are pro-active and are serious about advancing their career in the Demand/Delivery Management profession.


It is expected that if successful in securing the role, you will have the capability to be an active leader in the Delivery Profession and possibly work towards becoming a specialist in a Delivery specific functional area.



Essential Criteria:

??        Working in technology/on the delivery of tech-based projects  

??        Understanding of different delivery approaches and different phases of the delivery lifecycle  

??        Balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity  

??        Using metrics to identify, understand and improve team performance challenges  

??        Experienced at managing Project processes

??        Triage, monitor progression of Demand Management Requests

??        Excellent communication skills

??        Strong presentation skills and management and leadership of weekly meetings

??        Strong at Stakeholder management ??? Will be working with over 100 PM???s within large directorate

??        Confident and used to a pressured environment

??        Enthusiasm and willingness to take ownership and responsibility for specific duties to support the team

??        Methodical approach and excellent attention to detail

??        Candidates can come from a PSO/Delivery background possessing these skills

??        Highly Desirable ??? Jira/Snow



Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Work closely with the Demand Lead to determine weekly priorities and activities.

2.      Triage, monitor progression of Demand Management Requests (DMRs)

3.      Manage and chair weekly technical triage meetings, with SMEs, customers to understand technical needs.

4.      Lead weekly handover to support routes meetings to determine routes to support for DMRs

5.      Collaborate with key stakeholders within ES PMO to ensure alignment, priorities and progression on DMRs using dashboards and performance metrics.

6.      Manage professional stakeholder relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and act as the lead point of contact.

7.      Provide training and support for those new to the DMR process.

8.      Develop relationships with programme managers, project managers, PSOs and customers. Act as a point of contact for enquires relating to DMRs.
