Job Description Summary Duration: One Year Contract from June/July 2021

Reporting to: Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a dynamic and talented individual to join our team at GE Monitoring & Diagnostics in Lisburn.  Working within the Global Supply Chain division you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of projects to support the growth of our business. 

Job Description The candidate must be enrolled as a student in an engineering/science field of degree at an accredited UK or Irish university. The candidate must have a permit to work in the UK for the time period of the internship.

The Role
Improve and/or develop global supply chain processes and to improve product quality by using lean and 6 sigma approach and effectively working in a cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis of existing processes and execution of improvements
  • Root cause analysis
  • Experimental testing of dissolved gas analytics / sensor technology
  • Production line re-structuring
  • Project planning and execution
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI)
  • Support of daily production
  • Improve H&S and Ergonomics
  • Learn and apply lean tools
  • Process automation
  • Document processes

Essential Criteria:
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential
  • Has or currently are pursuing a degree in Engineering/Science (preferably Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical and Mechanical, but all considered)
  • Competency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Demonstrated time management capability
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment or independently on multiple projects with strict completion deadlines.
  • Good writing skills, accuracy and an eye for detail.

Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous industrial work experience
  • Ability to collaborate across various functions and levels within the operations team
  • Confident at programming in excel and managing or developing databases/macros
  • Familiar with programming language example Labview or Matlab
  • Drive to eliminate waste
  • Enthusiastic and imaginative
