We are seeking an experienced Security Architect with a strong background working within the Public Sector, Government or MOD.

Working in a home based role for a leading consultancy this is an amazing opportunity to be at the forefront of a wide range of government projects. 

 

The roles and responsibilities include, but are not restricted to the following:

  • Provide advice and guidance to Technical Specialists, Technical Architects and delivery teams, to assure the delivery of security architecture through solutions that are consistent with security standards, recommending design changes to make them compliant.
  • Advise on proportionate risk controls, mitigations, or countermeasures to address security threats and vulnerabilities within new and legacy IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Create new or review existing client Security Standards.
  • Support the risk management strategy and methodology, following the risk management lifecycle of risk identification, assessment, monitoring, reviewing and reporting
  • Support new and existing risk assessments and risk workshops, ensuring consistency across the business
  • Ensuring security is built into solutions by design
  • Ensure that the client makes the best use of its existing technology by supporting proportionate, risk-informed decisions relative to security investments
  • Support digital business areas, e.g. hosting, networks, desktop and applications, to ensure the security architecture is deliverable and operable, ensuring that the security architecture is assessed from the point of view of all relevant stakeholders
  • Contribute to the technical design authority and security risk & assurance forum, ensuring secure design architecture and levels of risk feed into the decision making process
  • Provide technical input to ensure risk assessments and risk treatments plans are accurate and valid
  • Provide architectural support for governance and Senior Leadership forums according to scheduled timescales.

The right candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the essential criteria listed below:

  • An effective decision maker, who utilises evidence, available data and personal knowledge to provide clear, accurate and professional decisions
  • Proven ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders at different levels and the ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally
  • Experience of the successful delivery of business or project outcomes
  • A champion of continuous improvement.
     

Skills required;

  • 5+ years working in HMG (minimum 3 years)
  • Understanding of HMG Security Policy Framework, OWASP, NIST, ISO27001, TOGAF and ArchiMate and use of the NCSC guidance (standards, GPGs, etc). 
  • Will also need to demonstrate knowledge of applying Computer Misuse Act, DPA 98 and now GDPR 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and RIPA 2000 in the cyber security field.

One or more of the following;

  • CREST Registered Technical Security Architect
  • SABSA Chartered Security Architect
  • CESG CCP Security/Information Assurance Architect
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
