THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the wider MCR Global family, you will be joining our small, but rapidly expanding team of consultants here in the United Kingdom.  This opportunity is for an Aeronautical Engineer (AeroSystems) to work at Ministry of Defence (MoD) Abbeywood to provide engineering support, advice and recommendations.  This opportunity falls within IR35 regulations.

THE CANDIDATE

We are seeking a forward thinking, pro-active Aeronautical Engineer (AeroSystems) with previous General Aircraft Systems experience delivering a Military Registered Civil Owned Aircraft (MRCOA) construct and be familiar with DE&S acquisition.  The candidate must also be experienced in supporting the delivery of the Military Certification of Air Systems in accordance with Regulatory Articles.

THE ROLE

Primarily the role will focus on:

  • Support the delivery of the Military Certification of Air Systems in accordance with RA5810 using the processes detailed within the DE&S Airworthiness Team (DAT) Air Engineers Toolkit (AET).
  • Assist management with the authoring and delivery of elements of the Air System Document Set to the satisfaction of the TAA and RTSA.
  • Delivering approved Airworthiness Strategies.
  • Support the delivery of Integrity Management in accordance with the Establish-Sustain-Validate-Recover-Exploit (ESVRE) management framework detailed within RA 5726. In particular, assist in the preparation an Air System Integrity Document and Plan and establishing an Integrity Management Working Group prior to the Air System being introduced to service.
  • Assist with the development and review of key elements of the ADS to the Lvl3’s and ultimately the TAA’s satisfaction, including the Statement of Operating Intent (SOI) and the Instructions for Sustaining Type Airworthiness (ISTA).
  • Produce and manage Project Engineering Management Plans and assist with the production of Design Configuration Management Plan (DCMP), Electromagnetic Effects Management Plan (E3M), Human Factors Integration Plan (HFIP), Standardization Management Plan and Safety Management Plan
  • Support the preparation of the following project specific Safety Products; Equipment Contribution to Risk to Life (ECtRtL) Log iaw RA1220 and AET Process 17, TASA/TASAR iaw RA 1220 and AET Process 16 and the establishment and maintenance of a record that demonstrates Project compliance to MRPs.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification level in Engineering or Science related discipline.
  • Engineering Technician or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Typically, an Associate member of a relevant Professional Engineering/Science Institute or equivalent body.
  • Must have relevant and recent experience of delivering a Military Registered Civil Owned Aircraft (MRCOA) construct.
  • Experienced in supporting the delivery of the Military Certification of Air Systems in accordance with RA5810 using the processes detailed within the DE&S Airworthiness Team (DAT) Air Engineers Toolkit (AET).
  • Experienced authoring and delivery of elements of the Air System Document Set to the satisfaction of the TAA and RTSA and delivering approved Airworthiness Strategies.
  • Experienced in supporting the delivery of Integrity Management in accordance with the Establish-Sustain-Validate-Recover-Exploit (ESVRE) management framework detailed within RA 5726.
  • Experienced preparing Air System Integrity Document and Plan and establishing an Integrity Management Working Group prior to the Air System being introduced to service. 
  • Experienced with the development and review of key elements of the ADS to management and ultimately the TAA’s satisfaction, including the Statement of Operating Intent (SOI) and the Instructions for Sustaining Type Airworthiness (ISTA).
  • Experienced preparing Release to Service Recommendations (RTSR) supported by the associated Type Airworthiness Safety Assessment and Report (TASA/TASAR) and ultimately the TAA in accordance with RA1360 and RA1220 respectively and AET Process 16. 
  • Experienced with DE&S assurance community and should be familiar with the Guide to Engineering Activities and Reviews (GEAR) to plan engineering activities and review engineering progress in support of the Project and must be competent to assist with the delivery of technical and airworthiness evidence to a sufficient standard to support the approval of key investment decisions.
  • Experienced producing and managing Project Engineering Management Plans and the production of:
    • Design Configuration Management Plan (DCMP)
    • Electromagnetic Effects Management Plan (E3M)
    • Human Factors Integration Plan (HFIP)
    • Standardization Management Plan
    • Safety Management Plan
  • Experience support the preparation of the following project specific Safety Products:
    • Equipment Contribution to Risk to Life (ECtRtL) Log iaw RA1220 and AET Process 17.
    • TASA/TASAR i.a.w. RA 1220 & AET Process 16.
    • The establishment and maintenance of a record that demonstrates Project compliance to MRPs.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be in possession of an active SC security clearance.
  • Must be a UK National only.
