AWE's Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) division is now recruiting for an Operations Specialist to provide support to the Operational Support Team ensuring the operational response is configured and maintained at operational readiness. This is achieved by a combination of maintaining the equipment and assets used by the response; planning and delivery of an exercise programme to test capability both on and off site; logistics support to trials activities; and support to the leadership team.

Location - Reading area

Package - £25,850 - c£35,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

This role will be responsible for delivery of specific operational tasks to schedule, cost and quality in support of the Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) programme.

We have 3 posts available covering different areas of the NTR Operational Support Team, but the aim is that the successful candidates will be able to deliver across the business area as required.

Tasks will be varied and may include: -

  • Maintaining a suite of technical equipment at operational readiness in accordance with legislation and company policies
  • Deploying the above in support of training, exercises and/or real incidents on and off site and reconstituting it upon return to site
  • Working with key partners to plan live play and table-top exercises to enable the accurate assessment of the organisation's performance
  • Delivering a programme of live play and table-top exercises in accordance with the prevailing exercise strategy
  • Maintaining accurate records of all exercises; contribute to the post exercise report (PXR) and to provide regular reporting to the Team Leader or others as required.
  • Feeding appropriate recommendations into the learning and development cycle to improve organisational effectiveness
  • Support to other areas of the Operations Support Team and/or Leadership team for this business area
  • Assignment to other tasks as required, including related trials

We would love to hear from someone who has previously worked in or supported an operational response and/or exercise planning and delivery role. You must possess excellent planning, communications and presentation skills to be considered for this opportunity.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and then adhere to the Government security classifications for document retention and transmission.
