Job Description Summary Products with emerging technologies can bring extra value and smart solutions for technical issues that our customers, who are operating the transmission and distribution power grid interconnecting with Inverter controls of renewable resources, could face with. The role will be involved in the research and development activities on the emerging technologies and the implementation of emerging technologies to offer smart solution for our customers.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for the research and innovation projects on development of new protection and control algorithms, schemes and strategies for transmission and distribution power grid protection and interfacing with renewable inverter controls system and smart grid or digital grid.
The candidate will analyze the steady and transient behavior of power grid either in normal operation status or in fault status interfaced with inverter based renewable resourceby means of emerging techniques to provide smart solutions to solve the technique issues or bring extra values for our customers.
The candidate will also need to construct the scientific model to implement the solutions in Matlab Simulink;
The candidate will also do some simulation modeling on power grids for analyzing or validating the solutions;
The candidate will also implement the new solutions, algorithms, protection or control schemes into the platform, and will do the corresponding validations.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in either electrical engineering or computer science; PhD is much more desirable.
  • Good and profound understanding of power system and its fault analysis as well as power system protection;
  • Good understanding of signal processing or control algorithms and theories;
  • Experience in modelling the power system by some specific software or tools, such as RTDS, PSCAD/EMTP, Matlab/Simpower, BPA, PSASP, PSS/E, DIGSILENT, etc;
  • Skilled in construction Matlab/Simulink model and skilled in algorithm implementation and design;
  • Knowing some advanced signal processing methods, such as parameter/status estimation, ARMA process, Kalman's filter, Machine learning, optimization, Artificial Intelligence, etc.
  • Have some knowledge of Power electronics control and protection;
  • Good presentation skills both in writing and speaking.
  • Have some knowledge of substation automation;
