Job Description Summary As a Business Consultant, you will work within various functional areas. Input of SAP and business knowledge to determine strategy and design of solutions. Support delivery of initiatives/projects, ensure adherence to global processes & ways of working, manage and escalate high risk / priority issues, support their relevant function to resolve day to day issues that have been escalated.

Job Description Responsibilities

• Own the end to end process for the functional area supported by the SAP system
  
• Lead implementation and governance of common global processes across functions
  
• Establish and maintain an effective communication network with business leaders, key users  and SAP COE functional consultants representing their relevant function across the global template
  
• Be champion to drive continuous improvement on all relevant processes and propose process performance objectives to business leads
  
• Develop user "forums" to pool and discuss ideas ensure communication is done regularly to  SAP users on issues as well as improvements / changes - within functional area
  
• Responsible for ensuring Global Business processes are maintained appropriately - within functional area
  
• Working with business leads to identify and train SAP users to move them to key user status and engage them into user forums.
  
• Key point of escalation for operational SAP issues that cannot be resolved by key user
  
• Actively partner with IT to evaluate system changes, upgrades or new functionality to determine the impact on business process / ways of working
  
• Work with IT and business leads to prioritise the change requests into releases
  
• Align appropriate business resources to document, test and implement changes as they come through
  
• Responsible for translating high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
  
• Relevant business and documented SAP experience and training - in relevant area
  
• Thorough understanding and experience in freight, distribution and warehouse area deep knowledge about relevant processes in SAP.
  
• Good working knowledge of computer systems, procedures, workflow management and monitoring systems - including relevant peripheral systems (eg Middleware)
  
• Demonstrated multitasking project management and execution skills
  
• Ability to influence & negotiate with teams from all levels of the organization
  
• Effective time management, organizational and administrative skills; able to balance multiple priorities
  
• Proven analytical and problem resolution skills and ability to understand complex business processes.
  
• Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex information in a easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing
  
• Documented experience in working as part of a "virtual" team.
  
• Experience in computer hardware and application testing and documentation
  
• Knowledge of validated testing principles, processes and procedures
  
• Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions; confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position.
  
• Willingness to travel
  

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science, IT, Business, Engineering or related discipline
  
• Exceptional communication skills and an ability to consistently represent GE in a courteous and professional manner
  
• Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction, able to maintain confidentiality and handle matters discreetly
  
• Effective problem solving skills and able to resolve a variety of issues and topics within the job scope
  
• Ability to effectively interact and communicate with senior level management and corporate contacts 
  
• Demonstrates initiative and a proactive "can do" attitude to global SAP users
